The Greek word, "pharmakeia" (strong's G5331) is typically translated into most English Bible Translations as "sorcery", "sorceries", "sorcerer", "sorcerers" or "witchcraft". The same Greek root word of pharmakeia produced English words such as "pharmacy" and "pharmacist". Ancient Greek uses of pharmakeia closely mirror the generic modern English word "drugs".
Pharmakeia has been reworded/redefined/repackaged over time, but its underlying meaning/intent/usage is still the same. Just like many other things, this should come as no surprise.
