And to depart from evil is understanding.'"

When all has been heard, the end of the matter is: fear God [worship Him with awe-filled reverence, knowing that He is Almighty God] and keep His Commandments, for this applies to every person.

Am I Using Words for Good or for Evil?

In the same sense, the tongue is a small part of the body, and yet it boasts of great things. See [by comparison] how great a forest is set on fire by a small spark! And the tongue is [in a sense] a fire, the very world of injustice and unrighteousness; the tongue is set among our members as that which contaminates the entire body, and sets on fire the course of our life [the cycle of man's existence], and is itself set on fire by hell (Gehenna). For every species of beasts and birds, of reptiles and sea creatures, is tamed and has been tamed by the human race. But no one can tame the human tongue; it is a restless evil [undisciplined, unstable], full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God. Out of the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. These things, my brothers, should not be this way [for we have a moral obligation to speak in a manner that reflects our fear of God and profound respect for His precepts].

Words for Good or Words for Evil
Words do more than convey information. Our words can build up and protect; as well as destroy, stir up hatred and incite violence.

The [malevolent] words of the wicked lie in wait for [innocent] blood [to slander],
But the mouth of the upright will rescue and protect them.
Proverbs 12:6 AMP

An evil man is [dangerously] ensnared by the transgression of his lips,
But the righteous will escape from trouble.
Proverbs 12:13 AMP

A man will be satisfied with the good from the fruit of his words,
And the deeds of a man's hands will return to him [as a harvest].

As we can see, words are extremely important. Are we using them for good or for evil?

How sweet are Your Words to my taste,
Sweeter than honey to my mouth!

Your Word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.

Father Jesus Holy Spirit, please fill our hearts and minds with Your Desires. Please tame our tongues so we may speak Your Holy Words.
