LOYALTY, FAITHFULNESS, OBEDIENCE, TRUST, LOVE FOR GOD
2 Chronicles 16:7-12
Does Your Life Show Evidence of Loyalty/Faithfulness/Obedience/Trust/Love for God?
It has been said, “There is no loyalty/faithfulness/obedience/trust/love amongst thieves”.
Are you with God or against Him?
First, lets take a look at the word loyalty and define it:
Being constant and faithful, bearing true support or allegiance to someone or something.
Now, lets take a look at some synonyms of loyalty (a synonym is a word or phrase that means exactly or nearly the same as another word or phrase in the same language):
allegiance, faithfulness, obedience, adherence, homage, devotion, steadfastness, trueheartedness, dependability, reliability, trustworthiness, duty, dedication, commitment, patriotism
Notice how obedience is a synonym of loyalty.
Finally, lets take a look at some Scripture Verses on obedience to God. But first we must be mindful of the Greek word translated “keep” in these Scripture verses, which speaks of watchful/careful/thoughtful obedience. It involves not only the act of obedience, but also the spirit of obedience - a willing/habitual/constant safeguarding of God’s Word (Holy Scriptures). Also within these verses, is the Greek word translated “commandments”, which refers specifically to the precepts of Christ rather than laws in general. Legal obedience demands perfection or penalty, but these scripture verses are a call to gracious obedience because of the penalty Christ has already paid. With all that said, here are the Verses:
If you love Me, you will keep (obey) My commandments.
~John 14:15
He who has My commandments and keeps (obeys) them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him.
~John 14:21
Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep (obey) My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him. He who does not love Me does not keep (obey) My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father’s who sent Me.
~John 14:23-24
If you keep (obey) My commandments, you will abide (stay/remain/continue) in My love; just as I have kept (obeyed) My Father’s commandments and abide (stay/remain/continue) in His love.
~John 15:10
By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep (obey) His commandments. The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep (obey) His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; but whoever keeps (obeys) His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him: the one who says he abides (stays/remains/continues) in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked.
~1 John 2:3-6
In a sense, obedience may seem like… a turn-off, is demanding, is reprimanding, is forced upon, is unpleasant or burdensome or undesirable. While loyalty seems like… worthy, loving, caring, something to strive for or a desirable quality to have. Hmmm, what do you think?
Now, lets use the same Scripture verses above, but this time around we’ll use the notion of loyalty instead of obedience. Lets take a look:
If you love Me, you will keep (obey) be loyal to My commandments.
~John 14:15
He who has My commandments and keeps (obeys) is loyal to them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him.
~John 14:21
Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep (obey) be loyal to My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him. He who does not love Me does is not keep (obey) loyal to My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father’s who sent Me.
~John 14:23-24
If you keep (obey) are loyal to My commandments, you will abide (stay/remain/continue) in My love; just as I have kept (obeyed) been loyal to My Father’s commandments and abide (stay/remain/continue) in His love.
~John 15:10
By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep (obey) are loyal to His commandments. The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does is not keep (obey) loyal to His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; but whoever keeps (obeys) is loyal to His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him: the one who says he abides (stays/remains/continues) in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked.
~1 John 2:3-6
Does the word loyalty strike a nerve with you and/or mean much more to you and/or is more relatable to you then the word obedience? Just ask yourself, “Am I a loyal friend?” or “Am I an obedient friend?". Which one of these questions seem to be more fitting with you? Again, loyalty seems like… worthy, loving, caring, something to strive for or a desirable quality to have; while obedience may seem like… a turn-off, is demanding, is reprimanding, is forced upon, is unpleasant or burdensome or undesirable.
Perhaps using the word loyal instead of obedient in Scripture carries more weight and/or makes more sense with you (even though the two words essentially mean the same thing, as shown above).
For the Eyes of Yahweh Roam throughout the earth to show Himself Strong for those whose hearts are completely His.
